On question of middle class life in states being ok minus the crime? In my experience, the crime is highly centralized in urban areas. If you’re upper middle class you either live a train ride away or you have a doorman and you Uber around. If the upper middle class were more impacted by crime, someone might actually do something to address it. Also, housing isn’t cheap but if you have a couple shekels you can still afford (with a 30 year loan) a place that would be a minor estate in many parts of the world. Oh, and most importantly, no metric system
